Creating a Cloudflare API Token for Win-ACME

Overview

Utilizing Win-ACME for a wildcard SSL Certificate requires DNS Validation. Thankfully, Win-ACME has plugins that will automate this for us. In this article, we’ll be going over how to create a Cloudflare API Token that can be used with Win-ACME to automate the creation of TXT records for DNS Validation.

Steps

  1. Log into your Cloudflare account and select a domain.
  2. Select “Manage Account” at the bottom of the left-side menu.
  3. Select “Account API tokens”.
  4. Select “Create Token” on this screen.
  5. Give the token a meaningful name (Ex. “DNS Validation”).
  6. Configure the token with the following settings:

  7. Select “Review Token” on the bottom right.
  8. Select “Create Token” on the bottom right.
  9. Copy the “Your API Token” field and click confirm. Do not lose this token. It’s very important.
