Does xByte provide email

xByte Cloud can provide email on a case by case basis, but xByte Cloud encourages clients to use external 3rd-party SMTP and mailbox providers for their email services.

Restrictions:

  • xByte Cloud doesn’t allow for the use of port 25 for incoming and outgoing for any xByte Cloud servers.
  • xByte Cloud doesn’t allow the use of 3rd-party email software or self-licensed email software on our server.

What are the specs of a base email service through xByte

  • Smartermail Profession 250 Edition
  • Windows server
  • 100 GB of disk space
  • 2 CPU
  • 8 GB of RAM

Rules of using email through xByte

  • Completion of our justification SMTP form - Complete SMTP Questionnaire Form

  • Our default email sending limits are not intended for bulk or mass email distribution, such as sending to hundreds or thousands of recipients within a short period or sending recurring promotional messages that could be flagged as spam.

  • The account owner will maintain full responsibility for the domain and users’ settings, their mailbox configurations, and sending habits.

  • The account owners must make sure that user passwords are frequently updated and use strong passwords.

  • Any domain sending from the Smartermail server must have proper SPF, DKIM, and DMARC configured.

  • Any mailing list that is sent from this server must be completely opt-in, NO sending or soliciting to PAID lists.

  • The account owner is responsible for ensuring that no spam is being sent from this server. If an account or website is found to be compromised and sending out spam from this server, there will be cleanup fees based on our TOS.

  • The account owner is responsible for monitoring the outgoing emails from their website or users.

If the account owner is found in violation of these rules, you will be charged a one-time violation fee of $500.00

What support does xByte Cloud provide?

*Only for customers with a paid SmarterMail license option through xByte.

  • We will install the SmarterMail service and provide the license to the server.
  • We will configure the hostname of the server and assist with getting proper rDNS setup.
  • We will assist with installing paid SSL certificates on the server, updating IIS bindings, and SmarterMail bindings.
  • We will assist with enabling the SmarterMail SSL feature; however, as this is a free SSL feature and easily runs into issues, we will not provide support for this feature if it runs into issues or refuses to renew SSLs based on our policy of only providing support for paid SSL products.
  • We will assist with reviewing delivery and SMTP logs to help determine why an email is not being sent out from the server or being received.
  • xBye Cloud is not responsible for monitoring incoming connections to Smartermail or the users that are configured.
  • xBye Cloud is not responsible for monitoring Outgoing emails from the website or users.
  • Xbyte Cloud can assist with Windows updates and SmarterMail upgrades.

xByte Cloud mail deployment includes a one-time setup fee based on the number of users. This fee will be included with the RFP upon approval of the justification form.

Free Edition (SmarterMail 1 Domain – up to 10 mailboxes)

For new deployed SmarterMail instances, the “SmarterMail 1 Domain – up to 10 Mailboxes” plan is considered the Free Edition. xByte Cloud requires a $25/month outbound SMTP sending fee when utilizing our mail relay services.

Customers using the Free Edition are responsible for managing and maintaining all updates, as this version does not include ongoing management or support from xByte Cloud.

If you would like assistance from our engineering team, we can install or upgrade SmarterMail on your behalf during normal business hours for a one-time fee of $95 per build.
