xByte Dashboard - Perform a ColdFusion Update

This article will serve as a guide for performing ColdFusion updates on your dashboard-enabled servers.

Steps

  1. To begin, you’ll need to access your server’s dashboard. Below is our documentation on how to get to this page:
  1. Read over the details in the information icon next to the “Update ColdFusion” button. The same details are provided below in the “ColdFusion Updates & Support Options” drop-down for ease of reference.

    ColdFusion Update Options & Support

ColdFusion updates are an important part of maintaining the security, stability, and reliability of your environment by reducing exposure to known vulnerabilities. We understand that every ColdFusion application is different, and updates may require consideration of custom code, application dependencies, or compatibility.

Our goal is to provide flexible update options that allow you to maintain a secure and supported environment while giving you control over how and when updates are applied.

    Standard Support Customers

Customers with our Standard Support plan can run updates on demand or schedule them directly through the Update Module in the customer portal.

Important considerations before applying an update:

    • Review the official Adobe ColdFusion release notes to determine whether any code changes or compatibility adjustments may be required.
    • Any issues resulting from the update will be addressed during normal business hours.
    • If the automated update process fails, our team will be automatically notified and will address the issue during normal business hours.
    • Prefer to have an xByte engineer perform the update? We can perform the update for a one-time fee of $95 per released update. To schedule this service, email [email protected]. Updates will be scheduled during our next maintenance window at 10:00 PM CT.

    MSaaS & Enterprise+ Customers

Customers with MSaaS or Enterprise+ Support can run updates on demand or schedule them directly through the Update Module in the customer portal.

Important considerations before scheduling an update:

    • Review the official Adobe ColdFusion release notes to determine whether any application or code modifications may be required.
    • If the automated update process encounters an issue, our on-call engineering team will be alerted to investigate and, when possible, complete or reapply the update.
    • If your application requires post-update testing or validation due to custom code, integrations, or dependencies on external services, you can request xByte engineering assistance.

    For post-update testing:

    1. Complete the update scheduling form.
    2. Email [email protected] with specific testing instructions or validation requirements.
    3. Post-update testing is available for a one-time fee of $95 per update.
    4. Our engineering team will perform the requested testing based on the validation steps you provide.

Need Help Planning Your ColdFusion Update?

Every ColdFusion environment is different, and we understand that applying a security update can raise questions about application compatibility, custom code, integrations, or potential downtime.
